Top ten finish at Cadwell Park

Daniel headed to Cadwell Park under the weather with a chest infection exacerbating his Asthma in the days prior to Round 8 of British Superbikes. He had lots of local support and was determined to ensure the NP motorcycles ZX6 finished in the top ten at this round.

TW Metals and Locate Supplies Sponsored this round, with some additional help from friends and supporters

He was doing his best to look after his health, but suffered an anaphylactic reaction early Friday morning to a smoothie which worsened his chest condition. The Medical staff and MSV paramedics were excellent in their care and treatment of Dan over the weekend, and although he remained unwell he was cleared to race; continuing with treatment throughout the weekend

Free practice one and Dan's times were not what he wanted, but considering his health problems they were to be expected; by FP2 they were improving and in Qualifying he set a personal best of 1:31.380

In the Sprint race later in the day, he showed great resilience and determination as he fought hard for every position, holding of late challenges in sector three to claim 6 valuable points for a twelfth placed finish over the line; but 10th position in class

Another 24 hours of rest and medication and he felt motivated for the feature race. He supported Lextek Motorcycle products on their stand during Race Day and signed posters for the fans.

There were mixed weather conditions throughout the day, but come the start of the feature race there was a dry track.

Despite his health Dan had a good start and immediately began passing riders to move up the field, he put in personal best in the first lap of 1:30.896 and swiftly settled into 12th position. He was preparing to move up the field when without warning the front wheel lost contact going into the one of the fastest corners of the circuit, Charlie's 2

That was his race at a premature end, not how he had planned Cadwell as he wanted to give a good result to his supporters

Dan comments:“I was really looking forward to Cadwell Park as this is my local circuit, no one could have planned for what unfolded; but despite the problems I encountered I was still determined to go out and do my best. I struggled in the sprint race, so I am really pleased with my result. I wanted to do better in the feature race and was frustrated with my early departure, as I knew I could have bettered my earlier 10th placed finish ”
